DESCRIPTION:

With a shallow ocean of super-heavy tritium water (Nepzerk), massive deposits of precious metals, and and an atmosphere generated by off-gassing of caustic hotsprings, Lau-Tem Pála’s surface is at once the most resource rich and the most hazardous to life in all of Deadstar. 

The inhospitality of Lau-Tem Pála made full human colonization of the planet impossible. The planet was first occupied in earnest after the Avanut were created in laboratories on MORC. Avnauts were biologically designed specifically for life on the surface of Lau-Tem Pála, not only resistant to its caustic nature, but dependent on the planet’s radiation and minerals.

Avanaut workers lived in refining colonies on the planet for decades in servitude to the NTF companies who owned them. It was the Avanut workers inspired by the writings of the Unionist political theorist, Xeral Armak, who began the Nepzerk Revolution on Lau-Tem Pála. The overthrow of facilities sparked the fire of a system-wide revolt against the Nouvieux oppressors throughout Deadstar. 

Without the ability to terraform the planet (as it would remove the natural resources that make it so valuable), Lau-Tem Pála remains occupied almost entirely by refineries and extraction facilities, now owned by the liberated Avnaut workers who call the planet home.
