HISTORY OF DEADSTAR

In the year 1999, Earth Humans launched a deep space vessel called the ISSC “Arc” on a course for a distant binary star system called Adonai. Aboard the vessel was a crew of 1,400  optimistic artists, engineers, historians, researchers, scientists, and teachers, meant to represent all of Earth’s diverse population. This group was known as “The Colonists.” Along with Arc’s Colonists were an additional 100 “Passengers,” a collection of Earth’s most wealthy and influential. These Passengers were cryonically frozen, to be awoken upon Arc’s arrival.

HOW DID WE GET HERE?

On October 21, 1962, Humans were contacted by a mysterious alien species known as the Bek who arrived aboard the massive starship called Radaak One. The Bek offered a lease of their advanced technology in exchange for Humanity’s cooperation in colonizing the Adonai system. Humanity quickly agreed. With access to hyper advanced Bek technology, Humans were able to make rapid breakthroughs in scientific research and development. The abrupt shift in society brought never before seen economic and social upheaval. With the development of cold-fusion in 1986, resource scarcity was all but eliminated on Earth. Peace and prosperity flourished, though unbeknownst to an accelerating Humanity, the Bek sowed their influence in secret. Humanity was unaware that their ticket to Adonai came with a hefty price.

WHY DID THE BEK CALL ON HUMANITY?

Long before the Bek made their voyage to Earth, even before Adonai was a binary star system, they evolved on the planet Beldona in the orbit of Adonai-2. Over the millions of years that Bek society flourished on Beldona, their sun, Adonai-2, grew dimmer and dimmer. Cursed with the knowledge they would soon face extinction, the Bek developed a solution to ensure their species survival – To alter Adonai-2’s course, forcing it to enter the orbit of the thriving G-Class star: Adonai-1. The Bek were successful in their plan to alter Adonai-2’s course, but ignorant to the existence of Adonai-1’s native inhabitants. The event now known as the Great Adonian Collision would eliminate four planets and millions of unique lifeforms and in doing so, create the binary system of Deadstar (so called for its violent genesis and Adonai-2’s white dwarf status). Upon learning of Bek’s responsibility for the Great Adonian Collision, the Galactic Order saw fit to exile the Bek from Deadstar. Now an advanced species without a home, the Bek roamed the galaxy searching for a species intelligent enough to colonize Deadstar and naive enough to be manipulated into doing so.

HUMANITY’S ARRIVAL

During the 1,000 year journey to Adonai, inside the social pressure-cooker of their starship home, the inhabitants of the ISSC Arc grew and changed. Nearly unrecognizable from their ancestral origins: politics, language and culture shifted, merged, and evolved. Where old fissures and hatred had faded, new ones opened. Where scientific and technological breakthroughs created easement and opportunity, they also brought strife and redundancy. The 250,000 Humans that finally gazed at the Adonian suns were not the ones who had dreamt of them so long before.

THE PASSENGERS OF ARC

The frozen Passengers of Arc were meant to serve as the first leaders of Human civilization in Deadstar.  The Bek had spent decades before their first official contact with Humanity developing a method to create human-bek genetic hybrids. These hybrids would be bred in secret, raised to encapsulate Bek ideals and launder them into Earth society. Without the direct knowledge of humanity, these hybrids became the Passengers of Arc. When Arc arrived in Deadstar and the Passengers were awoken, strangers greeted them. Strangers who had grown to revere, hate, fear, and even worship them.

THE SETTLEMENT OF NAESHA

Humans first settled on Naesha (now Æntez), the Earth-like moon of Chamerio. With an atmosphere thinner and lower in oxygen to that of Earth, Humanity began by terraforming domed habitats with technology developed on Earth in preparation for Arc’s voyage to Deadstar. Within a decade, Humans had created their first civilization in Deadstar, Terra Parva.

EXPANSIONIST ASPIRATIONS

Soon after founding Terra Parva, the Bek arrived in Deadstar aboard Radaak One. Assuming an advisory role in Human society, the Bek urged the ISSC leadership to colonize Chamiero and extract its resources to facilitate further expansion into the system. Before Humans landed on Chameiro they assumed their colony project would need only overcome environmental and logistical resistances. Æntezians colonial aspirations were quickly dashed by Chameiro's dominant native population: the Dwarka.

Humanity’s initial contact with the Dwarka was in Felsbloc Mine, the first Human settlement on Chameiro. When drills breached Dwarkan tunnel infrastructure, Dwarkan forces collapsed the mine and the settlement above it, killing the Human population of Felsbloc. The ISSC responded with a nuclear bombardment of Dwarkan tunnel systems, in an attempt to flush the Dwarka out. Understanding the provocation as a declaration of war, the highly advanced and native Dwarka population launched a campaign of systematic slaughter and dismantlement of Human mining equipment. The war continued to escalate for years, with virtually zero leverage gained by Human forces. Eventually ISSC leadership called for a peace summit with Dwarkan leaders. A treaty was created allowing Humanity to mine for resources in exchange for the removal and excommunication of the Bek from Human leadership roles (with both the Dwarka and Humanity recognizing the Bek as opportunists who manipulated Humanity into beginning the conflict).

The end of the War on Chameiro precipitated the collapse of the ISSC. Humanity felt the need to take new approaches to their expansion throughout Deadstar. It was through the destruction of Humanity's first governing body that Hadiocracy, Nouvieux, and Unionism arose.

SOWING HUMANITY’S FUTURE

As the Chameiro War drew to a close, tensions in Terra Parva were at an all-time high. With distrust in institutions, wealth inequality, and general instability on the rise, humanity questioned their unification for the first time since departing Earth. Having just lost a staggering amount of Naesha’s population to the war, Humans feared that their efforts in Deadstar might be forever hindered. In this important moment for the future of Naesha, the ISSC had commissioned many of the Chameiro War ‘s able-bodied veterans and diplomats to venture to Nymisto to oversee the exile of the Bek, a decision that left a Humanity in need of healing without its strongest members. Disenfranchised veterans remained at home where their disillusionment in the ISSC grew.

The Naesha pressure cooker eventually boiled over into a revolution led by the Æntezian Pureblood thought-leader, Cauldor Seark, a Chameiro War Veteran and author of the Hadiocrat Manifesto, “The Burden of Mankind” which outlined a more dominant and hardline approach to Humanity’s Empire to replace the failing ISSC. The first action was taken in Cerkata, the political district of Terra Parva, where members of the Blue-Bloods (a Radical Æntezian Supremacist group) stormed government buildings and executed members of the ISSC parliament in expedited tribunals overseen by Cauldor Seark. Following the bloodshed, elections were held and a weakened population elected Cauldor Seark, in hopes for positive change. Seark ushered in the Æntezian Empire, a Human state with the sole purpose of domination. Naesha became Æntez and all alien species of Æntez were imprisoned in labor camps and forced to realize the aspirations of the new empire. A defined ruling class of Æntezian Pureblood Aristocracy called The Azurian Dynasty was created, an elite enclave which still rules Æntez to this day.

When the adjudicators of the Bek’s exile to Nymisto returned home they came back to a new planet, one darkened by extreme prejudice and frothing with empirical bloodlust. The collection of soldiers, intellectuals, diplomats, and profiteers found the social climate of Æntez abhorrent, though they knew that reversing course would be impossible. Instead of fighting the Æntezian Empire they decided to create an alternative political philosophy whose ideals more aligned with the Humanity of old to coexist with Hadiocracy. These high-minded aspirations eventually crystallized in the formation of Nouvieuxism.
