DESCRIPTION:

Nymisto, a small rocky planet with no atmosphere, was once the homeworld of a highly advanced ancient civilization (Neam-Ní) whose massive ruins extend deep under the planet’s surface. Currently, the planet is the only location in Deadstar the Bek are permitted to live, in accordance with the peace treaty between Humans and Dwarka which ended the Chameiro War.

Once exiled to Nymisto, the Bek sought to terraform the planet, finding resistance to their colonial efforts in the form of the Zu-Bi Zu-Bi (Nymisto’s native inhabitants). The Bek, seeing the Zu-Bi Zu-Bi as an inferior species, began an extensive extermination effort. The genocide began with the expulsion of the Zu-Bi Zu-Bi from their homes into Bek ghettos and quickly escalated into labor camps and mass killings.

The discovery of the Bek’s extermination of the Zu-Bi Zu-Bi led the ISSC to send diplomats and contractors to prevent further genocide. The ISSC’s presence and resistance to the Bek escalated into war (The Spacer War). The private contractors who fought in The Spacer War would become what is now known as “spacers,” a colloquialism that now refers to starfaring contractors and adventurers. The ISSC was successful in ending the Bek extermination and freeing the remaining Zu-Bi Zu-Bi prisoners, though the majority of the Zu-Bi Zu-Bi population and culture was lost and has not recovered since.

Evidence of the war on Nymisto remains visible in the landscape of the planet. Outside of Bek infrastructure, much of the surface is scarred by craters created from the orbital strikes undertaken by the Bek and liberating spacers. Any remnants of Zu-Bi Zu-Bi (and thus Neam-Ní) civilization is long buried beneath the wasteland. The Nymistian wasteland is home to few uniquelly adapted lifeforms, such as the Hoppak, and is patrolled by Nymistian Razers, elite Bek rangers who eliminate trespassers on sight.
