BRAIN PERKS

(Obtained at levels one, two, four, six, eight, and ten)

LEVEL ONE

GAMBIT:

The Brain rolls a d20 after each Breather and may use their reaction to substitute the result for any d20 rolled by a target within line of sight. If two (2) or more Gambits are used on the same roll, the result is the Gambit used last.

GEEK:

The Brain gains access to a Codec, three (3) Rigs, and three (3) Implements [IT] when taking this Archetype at level 1. A Codec is a device unique to the Brain which can store three (3) Rigs at a time. The Brain may use Implements [IT] stored in their Codec as a minor action. As a major action, they may swap the Rigs loaded in their Codec. Rigs Programmed into their Codec replenish Implements [IT] at the end of a Breather at no extra cost. A Codec may store only Tier 1 Implements [IT] until level 4, at which point it gains acces to Tier 2 Implements [IT].

LEVEL TWO

CHOOSE A SPECIALIZATION

DOC

TRIAGE:

When the Doc applies their Gambit die to any target, they may choose to have the target restore two (2) Injury Levels [IL].

AEROSOL:

The Doc’s Medical Implements [M-IT] may be administered to targets up to six (6) units away.

WURLAK

PREDICTABLE:

The Wurlak may roll 2 Gambit dice after a Breather, using one result for themselves and one result for others.

DAEMON:

The Wurlak may have an additional Digital Implement [D-IT] Running at a time.

TECHIE

FIXING:

The Techie may add or subtract their aptitude modifier when they apply their Gambit die.

QUALITY CONTROL:

The Techie may use Repair Kits as a minor action during combat. In addition, the Techie’s Technical Implements [T-IT] have double their base Condition [CD].

LEVEL FOUR

CHOOSE ONE OF THE FOLLOWING PERKS

QUICK THINKING:

The Brain may make Tactical Maneuvers (see Operator).

STRATEGIC PLANNING:

When rolling initiative, the Brain may add their aptitude modifier rather than reflex.

PROPRIETARY HARDWARE:

The Brain may slot any Implement [IT] into any Rig of the same category [Medical, Digital, or Technical]. In addition, during a Breather, the Brain may take an aptitude Test to combine two [2] Rigs of any type. On a success, the Brain creates a self-charging Rig that any Implement [IT] may be programed into. Implements [IT] Programed into the self-charging Rig replenish after a Breather. On a failed Test, the two Rigs receive the INOPERABLE status.

SAGE ADVICE:

The Brain may use their reaction to add their aptitude modifier to an ally’s d20 roll if the ally is within line of sight. The Brain may also spend a major action on their turn to add their aptitude modifier to their next d20 roll.

LEVEL SIX

OBTAIN SPECIALIZATION PERK

DOC

MEDICAL TRAINING:

The Doc Gains The Edge on any aptitude Tests involving medical science (this does not include Implements [IT]).

POTENT DOSE:

When the Doc applies their Gambit die to any target, they may choose to have the target restore or lose a number of Health Points [HP] equal to half (0.5x) the result. This PERK replaces Triage.

WURLAK

CODE-BREAKER:

The Wurlak Gains The Edge on any aptitude Tests involving digital devices (this does not include Implements [IT]).

MENTAL MATH:

When the Wurlak uses their Gambit die on a target, they may add the difference between the two rolls to the Wurlak’s next Test or Resist.

TECHIE

GREASE MONKEY:

The Techie Gains The Edge on any aptitude Tests involving machines (this does not include Implements [IT]).

TRIAL AND ERROR:

When the Techie uses their Fixing PERK on a target, they may add or subtract the result of their aptitude modifier from the target’s rolls until the end of the Techie’s next turn.

LEVEL EIGHT

CHOOSE ONE OF THE FOLLOWING PERKS

TECHNOPHILE:

Along their journey the Brain has amassed a collection of technology, allowing them to construct a secondary Codec. The Brain gains access to an additional Codec, along with three (3) additional Rigs, and three (3) additional Implements [IT] when taking this Perk (the Brain may Deploy only one Codec at a time).

SUPER GENIUS:

The Brain has fully reprogramed their Codec, pushing it past its limitations: it gains access to Tier 3 Implements [IT].

THE SWARM:

The Brain may have three (3) of any combination of Drones or Synthetic Lifeforms operational at a time.

LEVEL TEN

OBTAIN PRESTIGE SPECIALIZATION PERK

DOC

ORGANIC MECHANIC:

When the Doc uses a Medical Implement [M-IT] they may make its effect into a Modification [MOD]. The Implement is consumed in the process. If its effect is already a Modification [MOD] (biomechanics), its effect no longer ends when the user suffers an Injury Level [IL] (Effects do not stack with other Implements [IT] of the same name).

WURLAK

NEUROMANCER:

The Wurlak has no limit to the number of Digital Implements [D-IT] they may have Running simultaneously.

TECHIE

SUFFICIENTLY ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY:

During a Breather, the Techie may take an aptitude Test to replicate an item provided they have the schematics and proper materials (Star Guide’s [SG] discretion).
