Found on Chameiro, the Sjerbit are an intelligent desert-dwelling humanoid lifeform that share a resemblance to Earth mammals. 

When Humans came to Deadstar, the Sjerbit had yet to create vast social structures, preferring instead to remain close-knit and pack-oriented. Once Humanity brought large scale civilization and technology to Deadstar, many Sjerbit integrated quickly, preferring Human society. Others rejected Humanity, choosing instead to remain “wild.” 

Post Chameiro War, many of the disenfranchised Sjerbit vetarans who had been conscripted and later discarded by the ISSC formed roving auto gangs. Skirmishes and armed conflicts arose between the Sjerbit gangs and Human settlements on Chameiro. After years of conflict the disjointed gangs united under the umbrella of Skorch, a massive organized gang with settlements spanning much of the untamed Chameiro desert. To this day, the Skorch remain a serious hazard to the Human settler societies of Chameiro.

A Sjerbit’s appearance depends heavily on the environment they evolved in and the roles they serve within it (i.e. the Sjerbit of the arid regions of Chameiro tend to be thin, furry, and dessert-fox-like while the Sjerbit of the cold climates of Chameiro are typically wooly and light in coat to camouflage themselves in snow). The inter-species variation of Sjerbit types is among the most diverse in the Deadstar system.
