The Chimera are a testament to the modern advancements in the Hybrid Genome Lab of the Human Verity Project (HVP). Developed post-Nepzerk Revolution, the Chimera were intended to push the limits of gene splicing to allow scientists to tailor make creatures for colonial and military applications throughout the system. Each Chimera is genetically unique and therefore cannot successful self-populate. All Chimera are born within HVP laboratories.

Following the Nepzerk Revolution and the liberation of the Avnaut (HVP’s most valuable “intellectual property”), HVP’s future and reputation were at stake. In the decades that followed, the company faded into relative obscurity, focusing their efforts on more stable endeavors like artificial reproduction. However, some of the company’s geneticists remained desperate to invent the next cutting edge biotechnological marvel. So, inspired by the Bellumite Devos, an enclave of HVP geneticists began independant studies into Human genetic splicing, thus birthing the Chimera.

New legislation passed by the NTF forbids sentient organic life, regardless of origin, from a life of slavery (unless by means of incarceration for criminal activity). Because of these laws, HVP has been required to grant freedom to any experiments deemed sentient.

No two Chimera look the same, as all serve as amalgamations of their genetic donors and display unique features associated with them. Because of their extreme rarity and abnormality, Chimera often struggle to find community in Deadstar.

You may choose the first listed Trait from any other lifeform according to your heritage.

GENETIC WONDER:

You may choose the second or third listed Trait from any other lifeform or select one (1) Genetic Wonder listed below (you cannot choose the same Trait for both Hybrid and Genetic Wonder).

You begin the game with an additional one (1) point in two (2) statistics of your choice.

GENETIC WONDER

CAUSTIC FLUIDS:

You possess a resevoir of bio-engineered acid granting you a natural ranged weapon that is considered always Deployed in the form of glands within your body. As a major action, you may launch caustic fluid at a target within six (units) and make an attack roll (using either perception or reflex). On a hit, the target takes five (5) toxic damage and must succeed on an endurance Resist or receive the POISONED status.

HEIGHTENED SENSES:

Your array of genetically modified sensory organs grants you extraordinary awareness. You Gain the Edge on perception Tests involving hearing and smell.

THICK SKIN:

Your skin has been genetically engineered to grow in interlocking keratin plates granting you a built in Damage Threshold [DT] of one (1). This does not count as armor.

DENSE MUSCLES:

Your muscles have been designed to grow in tightly woven lattices across your entire body. Your movement speed increases by two (2) units and when you deal damage with a martial weapon or unarmed attack, the target must succeed on a strength Resist or be knocked back one (1) unit.

ADAPTIVE RESISTANCE:

Your body is built to withstand specific environmental hazards while leaving you vulnerable to others. You choose to have resistance in two (2) of the following damage types: SHOCK, HEAT, CHILL, TOXIC, NERVE, RADIATION, and VOID. You then choose to be vulnerable to either BALLISTIC or ENERGY damage.

BIOLOGICAL SUPERCOMPUTER:

Your brain is a sophisticated network of augmented neuron hyper-highways. You may have an additional Digital Implement [D-IT] Running. In addition, you have a photographic memory: you Gain the Edge on aptitude Tests involving information recall.
