DESCRIPTION:

Zen in Deadstar is practiced through constant meditation and self reflection, with the goal of centering oneself and aligning their inner soul with the true nature of the Universe. The twin suns of the Adonai system, one dead, the other bearing all life, serve as a constant symbol in Zen, representing the balance of light and dark throughout the universe. Most practitioners of Zen can be identified by the adornment of the twin suns on their clothing, in jewelry, or through tattooed markings or body modifications. 

While the majority of Deadstar’s Zen practitioners integrate meditation and self reflection into the routine of everyday life, some devotees believe life in a monastery to be the only true method of seeking enlightenment (under the teaching of a master), while others still find life in isolated solitude provides the purest clarity.

Zen arose in popularity in the aftermath of the Chameiro War. Humanity’s defeat and uncertain fate brought about a period of extreme disillusionment and social decline. The zen profit, Mozer Haminai, posited that Humanity’s violence and destruction wrought on Adonai brought about their defeat. He saw a future where Humans continued their colonization and in so doing, sowed their ultimate extinction, and the annihilation of all life in Deadstar. Mozer lead a cultural revolution which culminated in the assassination of key members of Bek advisory leadership to Humanity as well as the architects of the Chameiro War. This act, and the populations reaction, directly influenced the ISSC’s decision to exile the Bek to Nymisto and later the ISSC’s collapse. Mozer was executed for his actions, though his influence lives long past his death, as his followers codified and spread his message.

They (the Bek) came looking for a vessel, a conduit for their hate. They found man. In man they saw themselves. They saw their hate, their entitlement, their desire. They needed not to mold us, only to join our ranks and to guide our hate at their target. They succeeded because we have forever lacked the ability to pacify our suicidal nature. Our endless cycle of violence and supremacy will forever end in our own blades cutting our own throats. Until we find our softer side, our true universal soul, we will continue following new monsters towards untold death.
