DIGITAL IMPLEMENTS

[D-IT]

(May only target electronics and individuals with Modifications [MOD]. Digital Implements have a range of line of sight)

DECRYPTIONS

[T1] CRACK

The user takes an aptitude Test to bypass an electronic defense or firewall. On a success, the user is able to access encrypted data and breaks through any firewalls.

PROJECTIONS

[T1] HOLOGRAM

The user takes an aptitude Test to create a realistic light projection that fits within a Zone in line of sight. The hologram is silent but may move and alter its shape so long as it remains within its Zone. All lifeforms attempting to discern if the projection is false may take a perception Test against the result of the user’s aptitude Test. The Hologram exists as long as this Implement [IT] is Running.

[T1] GLITCH

The user takes an aptitude Test to alter a target’s electronic visual feed. On a success, for as long as this Implement [IT] is Running, the user may insert or remove objects and figures, replace the entire feed with an image of their choice or reduce the visual to static, applying the BLIND status to the target.

[T1] DIRECTIVE

The user takes an aptitude Test to execute a one-word command on a drone or bot within line of sight. The target must succeed on an aptitude Resist against the result of the user’s aptitude Test or follow the command to the best of its ability. This command cannot cause the target to knowingly harm itself or its allies.

[T1] OPTICAL TAKEOVER

The user takes an aptitude Test to gain access to an electronic visual feed. On a success, the user is able to use the feed to draw line of sight for the use of Digital Implements [D-IT] for as long as this Implement [IT] is Running. In addition, the user may repeat this test on a new target as long as this Implement [IT] is Running. On a failure, the user loses access to all connected visual feeds.

MALWARE

[T1] OVERHEAT

The user takes an aptitude Test to fry an electronic device. On a success, the target takes HEAT damage equal to the user’s aptitude modifier. This damage ignores Damage Threshold [DT]. On each of the user’s turns, for as long as this Implement [IT] is Running, they may take a minor action to repeat this damage.

[T1] JAM

The user takes a contested aptitude Test against a target, attempting to cause catastrophic internal damage to their Deployed weapon. On a success, the target’s Deployed weapon BUSTS.

[T1] SHORT CIRCUIT

The user takes an aptitude Test to cause an electronic device to short out. On a success, the target takes SHOCK damage equal to the user’s aptitude modifier. This damage ignores Damage Threshold [DT].

[T1] MISFIRE

The user takes an aptitude Test to take control of a gun’s firing mechanism. On a success, the user may use the gun to make an attack roll against a target within range, using their aptitude modifier to determine whether the attack hits or misses. This attack cannot target the individual Deploying the gun.

[T1] READOUT

The user performs a full scan on a target learning its Damage Threshold [DT], Damage Resistances & Immunities, current Injury Level [IL], and any other relevant information (Star Guide’s discretion). The user also Gains The Edge on their next attack roll against the target.

[T1] PING

The user taps into a Mainframe to learn the location of one (1) object or person connected to the same Mainframe for as long as this Implement [IT] is Running. The target may make an aptitude Resist at the end of each of its turns to end this effect.

[T1] FIREWALL

The user creates a digital lock, barring access by those not designated by the user and preventing Digital Implements [D-IT] (other than Crack) from being used on the target for as long as this Implement [IT] is Running.

[T1] PHANTOM PROTOCOL

The user sets their Rig to low power mode, making it run in silence. They do not lose the HIDDEN status when using this Implement [IT] or their next Implement [IT].

[T2] DDOS

The user takes an aptitude Test to broadcast a target’s location. The target must roll an aptitude Resist against the result of the user’s aptitude Test. On a failure, as long as this Implement [IT] is Running, all attacks against the target Gain The Edge and it cannot Hide. The target may repeat its Resist at the end of each of its turns, ending this effect on a success.

[T2] ABORT

The user takes a contested aptitude Test against the target. On a success, any of the target’s Running Digital Implements [D-IT] are ended and the target must make a cool Resist against the result of the user’s aptitude Test or receive the STUNNED status.

[T2] DIAGNOSTIC

The user causes an electronic system to enter a recovery state. Any Digital Implements [D-IT] Running on the target are ended. If the target is BRICKED, the user may recover data that would otherwise be lost, the target loses the BRICKED status and becomes INOPERABLE. If the target is INOPERABLE, the user Gains the Edge on any aptitude Test made to repair the target. On a success, they may restore its condition to full.

[T2] SCRUB

The user takes an aptitude Test to comb through a database in search of a target. This Implement [IT] may target without having line of sight. On a success, the user learns the target’s precise coordinates. If the target has multiple possible locations, the user learns the nearest one. If the target is actively attempting to avoid detection they may make an aptitude Resist against the result of the user’s aptitude Test, leaking their location on a failure.

[T2] EDIT DRIVE

The user takes an aptitude Test to alter the data within a storage drive. On a success, the user is able to substitute data that has been entered within the last 24 hours, allowing them to erase data or create false information in the drive. If the target is stored within a bot or drone, the target must succeed on an aptitude Resist against the result of the user’s aptitude Test or have their storage drive overwritten.

[T2] ENHANCED HOLOGRAM

The user takes an aptitude Test to create a lifelike projection sized Mega or smaller within line of sight. The projection may move, alter its form and may even produce noise. All lifeforms attempting to discern if the projection is false may take a perception Test against the result of the user’s aptitude Test. The Hologram exists as long as this Implement [IT] is Running.

[T2] REPROGRAM

The user takes an aptitude Test to alter a drone or bot’s protocol within line of sight. The target must succeed on an aptitude Resist against the result of the user’s aptitude Test or follow the user’s commands to the best of its ability. These commands cannot cause the target to knowingly harm itself. The target may repeat its aptitude Resist each time it takes damage and at the end of each of its turns.

[T2] SYSTEM SHUTDOWN

The user takes a contested aptitude Test against a target. On a success, all electronic Modifications [MOD] Slotted into the Target are rendered INOPERABLE for as long as this Implement [IT] is Running. In addition, if the target is a bot or drone, it receives five (5) SHOCK damage on a failed Resist. This damage ignores Damage Threshold [DT].

[T2] VISUAL OVERLOAD

The user floods a target’s visual feed with harmful images. The user may take a contested aptitude Test against the target. On a success, the target takes SHOCK damage equal to the user’s aptitude modifier. In addition, the target receives the BLIND status for as long as this Implement [IT] is Running.

[T2] SPOOF

The user takes an aptitude Test to alter the digital identity of any target(s) within line of sight. On a success, for as long as this Implement [IT] is Running, targets will appear as the user chooses on visual feeds and any scanners programmed to detect a target’s affiliation(s) will detect the affiliation(s) of the user’s choice (this may cause enemy drones to target their controllers, Star Guide’s [SG] discretion).

[T2] SUBLIMINAL HOLOGRAM

The user takes an aptitude Test to create a hypnotizing display of lights in an area of SPHERE 3 within line of sight. All individuals (including lifeforms) within the area must succeed on a perception Resist against the result of the user’s aptitude Test or become STUNNED for as long as this Implement [IT] is Running or until they take damage. A STUNNED individual may repeat this Resist at the end of each of its turns, ending the status on a success.

[T2] OPTICAL DELUSION

The user takes a contested aptitude Test against a target. On a success, the target sees a horrific vision in their visual feed: receiving the ROUTED status and Losing the Edge on attack rolls for as long as this Implement [IT] is Running. At the end of each of the target’s turns, they may repeat this Resist, ending the effect on a success.

[T2] SABOTAGE

The user takes an aptitude Test to sabotage a weapon’s internal mechanisms. On a success, the weapon receives the MALFUNCTIONED status for as long as this Implement [IT] is Running.

[T2] DATA BOMB

The user takes an aptitude Test to short out all electronic devices within an area of SPHERE 2. Each target within the area must make an aptitude Resist against the result of the user’s aptitude Test. On a failure, a target takes SHOCK damage equal to the user’s aptitude modifier. This damage ignores Damage Threshold [DT].

[T2] COUNTER HACK

As a reaction, the user attempts to outrace a target’s Implement [IT] upload. The user takes a contested aptitude Test against a target using a Digital Implement [D-IT]. On a success, the user intercepts the target’s program, negating the Implement’s [IT] effect and rendering it INOPERABLE.

[T3] DATAMINE

The user takes a contested aptitude Test against a bot or drone, attempting to sabotage its data storage protocols. On a success, the target’s aptitude and cool statistics are reduced to one (1) and it may not use Implements [IT] for as long as this Implement [IT] is Running.

[T3] WYXARD OVERRIDE

The user Runs a program allowing them complete access to Wyxard’s vast virtual database. When the user uses this Implement [IT], they begin the process of parsing through relevant data. If this Implement [IT] is still Running after a number of rounds equal to ten (10) minus the user’s aptitude modifier, they are able to interface with Wyxard’s onboard  virtual intelligence and may ask it up to three (3) yes or no questions. The AI attempts to answer the questions as best it can. If there is no relevant data, Wyxard can return “null” (Star Guide’s [SG] discretion).

[T3] ELECTROMAGNETIC PULSE (EMP)

The user takes an aptitude Test, attempting to power off any electronic devices within line of sight. If a target is being operated or Deployed, its user must make an aptitude Resist against the result of the aptitude Test. On a failure, the target is rendered INOPERABLE. If a target is not being operated or Deployed it is rendered INOPERABLE.

[T3] HIJACK

The user takes an aptitude Test to perform a complete restructure of a target bot or drone’s primary protocols. The target must succeed on an aptitude Resist against the result of the user’s aptitude Test or become the user’s ally. This effect is permanent.

[T3] CORE MELTDOWN

The user takes an aptitude Test targeting an electronic device’s power source, causing it to rapidly and explosively meltdown. All targets within two (2) units of the device must make a reflex Resist against the result of the user’s aptitude Test. On a failure, a target takes twenty (20) HEAT damage or half as much on a success. Regardless of result, targets receive the BURNED status. The device is rendered INOPERABLE.

[T3] BLUE SCREEN

The user takes an aptitude Test to fatally corrupt an electronic device’s core processors. On a success, the target takes fifteen (15) SHOCK damage. This damage ignores Damage Threshold [DT]. If this damage reduces its Health Points [HP] or Condition [CD] to zero (0) it receives the BRICKED status.
